We live in a day when few people are drawn to prolonged theological studies, especially on biblical topics. The reason is often a misguided belief that although pastors have a need to study the deeper matters of theology, their congregations need things that are a little simpler, a little softer, a little more tender and inviting, filled with feeling and encouragement, not too deep and not too long. The idea prevails that anything too theological only stimulates the intellect but not the soul. These trends, however, have resulted in too many “Christians” who do not really know what they claim to believe, which in turn has produced a generation of churchgoers who are far too easy to mislead and manipulate. This comprehensive study of the all-important book of Hebrews is an attempt to discover the deeper truths of this extraordinary and divinely inspired letter, which is as relevant to us today as it was to the churches of the first century
